Abstract

Aims: Evaluation of Patient Satisfaction (PS) is one of the most essential factors in improving the quality of healthcare systems. The aim of this study is to determine the norms and to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Najmiyeh Outpatients Satisfaction Questionnaire (NOSQ). Methods and Materials: This study has been conducted on 240 outpatients in Najmiyeh subspecialty hospital (Tehran-Iran) in 2011. They were selected using the proportional simple random sampling method. Following the confirmation of the content validity, we considered the construct validity and reliability applying Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Cronbach's Alpha. Also, SPSS and AMOS version 18 were used for data analysis. Findings: The sample population consisted of 240 subjects, including 132 females (55.1%) and 108 males (44.9%). The EFA reported three important factors in this regard, with a variance of 54% and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index of 0.82, all approved by the CFA (RMSEA= 0.04, CFI= 0.96). The outpatients' satisfaction factors were: “hospital information system, treatment and conditions”. The reliability of the questionnaire was reported at %71 based on the Cronbach's alpha. Conclusions: Both validity and the reliability indexes of the NOSQ have been reported at a desirable level; therefore it can be used as a valid and reliable instrument to measure the outpatients' satisfaction.

Abstract

Aim: Patients' satisfaction (PS) is a dominant concept in medical care, due to the gap in the literature on Persian version of PS instruments, this study has conducted with aim to analyze the validity and reliability of self-designed Najmiyeh Inpatient Satisfaction Questionnaire (NISQ). Methods: This study was carried out on 247 inpatients that came in Najmiyeh subspecialty hospital in Tehran (the capital city of Iran) during year 2011 who were selected by proportional stratified sampling method. Statistical analysis used: In this study, after checking content validity we used confirmatory and explanatory factor analysis and Cronbach's Alpha in order to examine construct validity and reliability, respectively. SPSS (version18) and AMOS (version 20) programmer were used to analyze data. Findings: Samples consisted of 247 subjects (222 women (90%) and 25 men (10%)). The explanatory factor analysis showed 5 factors with 64% total variance and 0.91 Kaser-Meyer-Olkin Index, the result also confirmed with confirmatory factor analysis (PNFI=0.71, RMR=0.03, PCFI=0.76). Extracted factors consisted of: “satisfaction from nursing services and their behaviour”, “satisfaction from one’s doctor”, “satisfaction from inpatient department”, “companions’ satisfaction”, “satisfaction from one’s room”. Also the questionnaire’s reliability was 0.96 using the Cronbach's Alpha method. Conclusions: Because validity and reliability indexes of NISQ were reported in suitable range, we can confirm that this questionnaire is a valid and reliable tool for measuring inpatient satisfaction.

Abstract

Aims: In recent years, magnetotactic bacteria and their magnetic nanoparticles (magnetosomes) were considered in different fields of science, including medicine, biotechnology, and nanobiotechnology due to their novel and unique magnetic properties. The present study was performed with the aim of evaluating the effect of temperature and reducing agent on labeling of magnetosomes with 188Re and biodistribution of labeled magnetic nanoparticles.
Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, Alphaproteobacterium MTB-KTN90 and sonication extraction method were used for the extraction of magnetic nanoparticles. After bacterial lysis, the magnetic nanoparticles produced by electron microscope were investigated and tin (II) chloride, as reducing agent, was used to check the labeling efficiency and rats were used to examine the biodistribution of the labeled magnetosomes.
Findings: The highest efficiency in magnetosome labeling experiments was 11100kBq in the initial activity, which decreased with increasing activity. The increase in temperature did not have much effect on increasing the labeling efficiency. The labeling value in the absence of a reducing agent was 721.5kBq, while at a concentration of 2mg of this agent, the labeling value increased to 10745.91kBq. After the injection of magnetosomes through the sublingual vein of the rat, the magnetosomes accumulated in the liver.
Conclusion: Magnetosomes extracted from Alphaproteobacterium MTB-KTN90 have a high potential for labeling by 188Re. Increasing temperature does not affect the labeling efficiency, but tin (II) chloride is a very important factor in optimizing the labeling efficiency, and the highest accumulation of magnetosomes labeled with 188Re after injection is in the liver of the rat.

Abstract

In this study, the effects of incorporating grape seed powder (GSP) on flour physicochemical properties i.e. particle size, crude protein, fiber, wet gluten and gluten quality (Zeleny test), and dough rheological properties were investigated. Increasing incorporation levels of GSP from 5 to 25% (w/w flour basis) led to an increase in the amount of fat, total phenol, and total dietary fiber; whereas total protein, wet gluten, and Zeleny values of the flour blends decreased. The results of farinograph test indicated a reduction in water absorption, stability, and farinograph quality number by increasing the concentration of GSP in the flours. Addition of GSP to wheat flour increased degree of softening and mixing tolerance of dough, while arrival time was slightly affected. Incorporation level below 10% (w/w) showed no negative effect of grape seed on dough rheological performance. There was a good potential in increasing nutritional and health value of bread by incorporating GSP, while keeping attention on the negative effects of the higher concentrations of GSP.

Abstract

Introduction: Decellularizing testis tissue and recellularizing with spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) seems to be a promising approach to restore fertility in prepubertal boys who undergoes cytotoxic therapies.
Method: Testis tissue decellularization was performed by adding 1% SDS and confirmed by histological analysis and DNA quantification. The MTT assay was performed for biocompatibility analyses. SSCs were derived from male mice and cultured in αMEM medium for two weeks. Expanded SSCs were seeded onto the DTM scaffold. The recellularized DTM scaffold disc was cultured in a static cultivation system for one week, then transferred in a dynamic mini-perfusion bioreactor for two weeks. The expression of Id4, Plzf, Gfrα, Prm, Sycp3, ABP, Ki67, Bax, and Bcl2 genes were assessed in SSCs and recellularized DTM after static and dynamic cultivations.
Result: DNA qualification indicated that approximately 99% of the DNA components were removed from DTMs. Hematoxylin-eosin, Masson's trichrome, and DAPI staining confirmed the effective recellularization. Dynamic cultivation of recellularized DTMs at the flow rate of 10 ml/h provided optimum conditions. The expression of SSCs-specific genes of Id4, Plzf, and Gfrα-1 and post-meiosis genes of Scp3, prm1, and ABP was insignificantly higher in the DTMs group than in the control group. Ki67 expression was shown no difference between groups. An insignificant lower expression of the Bax and higher expression of Bcl2 genes was detected in the DTMs group compared to the control.
Conclusion: Our results indicated that SSCs could successfully be attached to the DTMs and effectively proliferate in the mini-perfusion bioreactor.

Abstract

Among the various processes of land degradation, soil erosion is known as a major environmental problem that causes the loss of topsoil and nutrients, reduces fertility, and thus decreases in crop yield. Evaluating and preparing a risk map and estimating the lost economic value due to the loss of soil nutrients can provide the basis for rational planning to prevent and control wind erosion. The aim of this research is to estimate the economic consequences of wind erosion in the Hamoon wetland, which is considered as one of the centers of dust production in the Sistan plain. This research has been done in two stages; first, using the IRIFR model, which is an experimental model to estimate the intensity of wind erosion, an attempt has been made to investigate the erosion intensity, prepare a map of erosion classes (danger), as well as determine the amount of annual sediment production in Hamoon wetland. In the second stage and the economic discussion on the topic, in two parts and using the information obtained from the first stage, using two methods of risk assessment and alternative cost, to prepare a risk map, and the economic value lost due to the loss of the main nutritional elements of the soil action has been taken due to wind erosion in the proposed region. The findings show that Hamoon lagoon has five risk classes in which, the low-risk class has the largest area with 41.15 percent. In terms of economics, from the point of view of the risk map, the largest area of ​​the wetland includes the intensity of risk with 59.93 percent in the very low class, 32.68 percent in the very high class, and 7.36 percent in other classes. The amount of lost economic value of the main soil elements due to wind erosion in the mentioned wetland is estimated to be 994 billion Rials.
